Nominate an outstanding campaigner or activist for the Climate Champion Awards

Nominate an outstanding campaigner or activist for the Climate Champion Awards

Our dear friend and long-time NSW Greens member John Davis worked tirelessly and passionately as a climate activist and film-maker before his tragic death in 2015.

Last year we hosted a screening in NSW Parliament of John’s final project Coal: Is it Worth It  and acknowledged John’s activism by awarding him the inaugural NSW Climate Champion.

We want to continue to honour John’s legacy by recognising outstanding contributions to the campaign against coal and coal seam gas mining in NSW and for a safe climate future.

The Climate Champion Awards recognise and celebrate people working on climate action in our community who are building the movement and having a positive impact for change.
Two awards will be presented in 2018:
  • The ‘John Davis’ Climate Champion. Awarded to an individual who has shown selfless dedication to championing climate action through education, activism, or supporting others to do that.

  • The Young Climate Champion. Awarded to an individual under 25 who has inspired others to become champions for climate action.
Nominations are now open until 5pm, Friday 2 March

A short-list of nominees will appear on Facebook shortly after, with voting for the winning Climate Champions open to the public.

The winners will be announced at a special community event at Parliament House on the evening of 11 April. More details to come shortly.

There has never been a more critical time for climate action globally. The challenge will take all of us, working together, and it will need community champions with determination, innovation, strategy and heart. These are our climate champions.

We look forward to hearing your nominations and celebrating the success of our movement.

Yours in Action,
Justin Field and Jeremy Buckingham
