Ted Baillieu predicts sea level rise, hides under desk

Subject: [Greens-Media]

The Victorian government has released maps of predicted sea level rise and storm surge impacts across Victoria, but has missed the legal deadline to produce a plan for adapting to climate change, the Greens say.

"We've seen droughts, flash floods, heatwaves and fires but Ted Baillieu is hiding under his desk," said Victorian Greens Leader Greg Barber

"Anyone can download the Victorian sea level rise maps from the government website* and look at them, but that’s where it ends.  The maps should be part of the planning scheme, but Planning Minister Matthew Guy knocked back the Advisory Committee recommendation to put them there.** We've been doing it with river flood zones for ages so why not sea level rise and
storm surge?"

"The state government was required by the Climate Change Act to complete a plan for adapting to climate change by December last year."

"In Tasmania, Greens Minister for Climate Change Cassy O'Connor has
already produced a climate change adaptation plan and is talking to her
community about working together to meet the challenge," said Mr Barber
