Rally to Protect our Land and Water

Protect our Land and Water Rally
Tuesday 1 May, 12noon
Martin Place, marching to NSW Parliament

Your support is needed next Tuesday to help protect our land and water

Next Tuesday on 1 May there will be an historic political rally at the NSW Parliament.

Farmers, Environmentalists, and community groups will speak with one voice to tell the Government that it has had enough of the mining at all costs approach in NSW.

The Government's Strategic Land Use Plans that were supposed to protect the environment and agricultural land from coal and gas mining have been labelled a failure by all stakeholders.

In fact the Coalition Government has introduced its own Part 3A style clause into the new rules allowing cabinet override to declare the project of exceptional value.

At risk is our agricultural land, our drinking water catchments, and the state's biodiversity.

We need your support to make this rally a success. We need 10,000 people to gather at Martin Place next Tuesday at 12noon to march to Parliament and make our voices heard on this important issue.

What you can do?
  • Forward this email to your friends and family
  • If in Sydney come to the rally in your lunch break
  • Organise a bus to bring your community group to Sydney for the day
  • Tweet about this event and share it on Facebook
  • Bring your Lock the Gate and No Gas signs or make your own
To find out more go to the NSW Farmers Association Protect our Land and Water website where you can register for a bus coming from your region.

The groups supporting this event include the NSW Farmers Association, Lock the Gate Alliance, the NSW Nature Conservation Council and Get-up.

I hope you can join me at the rally.

Getup Video about the Rally
Getup have shown great support for the rally to protect our land and water. They have produced a great video explaining why regional Australia is fed up with the lack of action by our Governments.
Make a submission against the Land Use Plans
The Government's Land Use Plans fail to protect any areas of NSW from coal or gas mining in the future. You can have you say about the plans here. Download a template submission which explains the key problems with the plans.
