Greens think long term with transport forums in Lismore & Coffs Harbour

Greens MP and transport spokesperson Cate Faehrmann will be conducting sustainable transport forums in Lismore and Coffs Harbour in an effort to ensure a wide range of views from the North Coast can be fed into the government's Transport Masterplan process.
"The government is making its transport plans for the next 20 years and the Greens want to make sure that people are consulted in depth," said Ms Faehrmann.
"We don't think the government's own forums are enough. Some participants are feeding back to me that they are tightly controlled and not really an opportunity for truly long term planning.
"The Greens will be asking people what their needs will be in 20 years, not just what we want now.
"Maybe your family won't be able to afford to drive anymore. The places you need to travel to may change. All these questions need to be examined.
"I think there is a danger that too many voices will be ignored. The Greens want to make sure that everyone is able to express their views and that the government is presented with genuine solutions for the North Coast.
"I look forward to seeing as many people at the forums as possible and to hearing your views. To get things started we'll also be hearing from local transport experts," said Ms Faehrmann.
Details of the forums are as follows:
Lismore forum:                       Lismore Workers Club, 231 Keen St, Lismore
Saturday 14th April 3:00PM – 5:00PM
Coffs Harbour forum:             Coffs Harbour Neighbourhood Centre, 22 Earl St, Coffs Harbour
Monday 16th April 1:00PM – 3:00PM
