Greens NSW MP John Kaye will be in Grafton on Monday 14 November 2011 to join with Janet Cavanaugh, Greens candidate for the Clarence by-election, to announce the Greens NSW plan to introduce new legislation to push NSW towards a zero carbon future.
Ms Cavanaugh and Dr Kaye will also be commenting on the O'Farrell government's series of attacks on the public provider of vocational education. TAFE is under threat from increased competition with private training providers, higher student fees and cuts to teachers' wages and conditions.
A strong TAFE sector is essential for the future of the state as it faces the challenges of climate change. TAFE creates the skills needed both to develop and implement new technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the impacts of unavoidable global warming.
